How to download videos from the internet...?

     Most of us want to download and use videos available in the internet but don't know how to do it or think it as a herculean task.

      If you put in a little effort it is very easy....... Though many view video online they don't know how to save it to their computer. For example the third post in this blog Std. VIII Vol.1 Unit II Lesson 1 The Mice That Set The Elephants Free is an animation video of that chapter. Though you can play the video by clicking on the play button in the centre it won't automatically get saved in the computer. Next time you will have to download the video again. The following are some of the easiest ways to solve this problem.


1) For those who use Mozilla Firefox most of the Audio– Video files from the internet can be downloaded using an 'Add on' in Mozilla Firefox. To know how to install 'Download Helper' click here using your mouse wheel (Please respect copyright rules)

2) If you are using Windows you can download and install softwares like 'Download Accelerator Plus' , 'Orbit' etc. from their respective sites.

    After installing these softwares right click on the video to be played and select 'Download with DAP' or 'Download by Orbit'. The next question will be where to save the downloaded video. You just need to decide where to save.

3)  Another method is to have a download option on the tool bar of the browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox etc.). The moment you click on the play button of any video this download button will start blinking. You just need to click on it and select where to save.

      To use this easiest method of all those mentioned here what you have to do is to download and install Speed Bit Video Downloader from http://www.speedbit.com/video/. The installation would automatically add it to the browser window.

4) If you are using Linux wait till the full video to play then minimize the window and open

 computer -> file system -> tmp -> video -> right click -> save as

But this method may not be successful in some Linux systems.

     I saw your blog www.english4keralasyllabus.com. This blog is amazing. I loved it. It helped me very much. I would like to be a author of your blog.        This is a mail that I received yesterday (08.07.2012) from a student of Std. VIII from an English Medium School.

       It is 11 months since I started blogging for English teachers and students of Kerala syllabus. I had continuously requested teachers and my close friends to contribute something for the blog but only four teachers co-operated till date. Nizar Sir of mathsblog had requested Mathsblog readers also. Result was the same - no response !!

      The blog now has an average of 5000 visitors per day and the number is increasing everyday. Many contact me daily for help to download something not to contribute something. Why not adopt a 'give and take' policy. Remember that I too am a High School teacher busy like you.

Std.X Unit II Chapter II 'The Blue Bouquet ' by Octavio Paz

അധ്യാപക സുഹൃത്തുക്കളെ,

         'The Blue Bouquet' (by Octavio Paz) എന്ന പാഠം പഠിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ വിവരിക്കുവാന്‍ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുള്ള വാക്കുകളുടെയും  മറ്റും  ചിത്രങ്ങൾ ക്ലാസ് എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന അതേ സമയം തന്നെ കുട്ടികളെ കാണിക്കാനുതകുന്ന ഒരു വിന്‍ഡോസ്  power point slide show ഇവിടെ നിന്നു ഡൗൺലോഡ് ചെയ്യാം (Click File > Click Download > Save). അതല്ല  ലിനക്സ് ആണ് വേണ്ടതെങ്കില്‍ Ubuntu open office presentation slide show ഇവിടെ നിന്നു ഡൗൺലോഡ് ചെയ്യാം. 

    കൃത്യമായ ഓഡറിൽ തന്നെ ചിത്രങ്ങൾ കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നതിനാൽ അതാതു സമയത്ത് അടുത്ത സ്ലൈഡ് മാറ്റിയാൽ മതിയാവും. ആദ്യ തവണ ക്ലാസിൽ നേരിട്ടുപയോഗിക്കാതെ പുസ്തകം വായിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് സ്ലൈഡ് ഷോ ഒരു ട്രയൽ ആയി നോക്കുന്നത് നന്നായിരിക്കും. ഏതൊക്കെ വാക്കുകളുടെ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ ആണ് സ്ലൈഡില്‍ ഉള്ളതെന്ന് ഓര്‍ക്കാന്‍ പുസ്തകത്തില്‍ ആ വാക്കുകളുടെ അടുത്തായി ഒരു നമ്പരോ അടയാളമോ ഇട്ടാല്‍ എളുപ്പമായിരിക്കും.

Std. X Unit I - Space it ! ( Page 44 )

Dear Teachers and students,

                                          Towards the end of Unit I of Std. 10 (Page 44) there is an activity to give space at proper places in a paragraph which has no spaces at all. It is expected to be done using a computer. For ease I have typed it and provided it for download. Now it is easy for you to copy the activity and provide it to the students in the computers of your school lab and make them correct it.

When you click on file you will get a list. Click "Download" in that list. The computer will ask you where to save it. Done !

                   എന്തായാലും ഇതു ഉപകാരപ്പെടും... കാരണം സ്കൂളില്‍ ലിനക്സ് ആണെങ്കിലും ബഹുഭൂരിപക്ഷം അധ്യാപകരുടെയും വീട്ടില്‍ വിന്‍ഡോസ് ആണല്ലോ !!!!!
