ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് തസ്തികയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട വളരെ സുപ്രധാനമായ ഒരു പോസ്റ്റ്

പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട അദ്ധ്യാപകരെ, രക്ഷകർത്താക്കളെ,
                                            കേരളത്തിലെ ഗവണ്‍മെന്റ് / എയ്ഡഡ പൊതു വിദ്യാലയങ്ങളിൽ പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് പഠിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നത് Physical Science / Maths /  Social Science / Natural Science അദ്ധ്യാപകരായിരുന്നു. ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് ബിരുദധാരികൾ തന്നെ ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് പഠിപ്പിക്കണം എന്ന ആവശ്യം ആയിരത്തിതൊള്ളായിരത്തി എണ്‍പതുകളിലും തൊണ്ണൂറുകളിലും പൊതുജനങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് ഉയർന്നു വന്നതിന്റെ ഫലമായി 1996-1998 കാലത്ത് ഇത് സംബന്ധിച്ച് നടപടികൾക്ക് സർക്കാർ തുടക്കമിടുകയും 2002 ജനുവരി ഏഴാം തീയതി മുതൽ പ്രാബല്യത്തിൽ വരത്തക്ക വിധം 

1. HSA English തസ്തിക സൃഷ്ടിക്കുകയും
2. ഇംഗ്ലിഷിനെ ഭാഷാ വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ അവസാനത്തേതായി ചേർക്കുകയും
3. HSA English shall be sanctioned on the basis of periods of work

എന്നൊക്കെ ചേർത്ത് KER അമന്റ് ചെയ്യും എന്നറിയിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്‌ ഗസറ്റ്‌ നോട്ടിഫിക്കേഷൻ നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു. (അത് ഡൌണ്‍ലോഡ് ചെയ്യുവാൻ ഇവിടെ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക). പക്ഷെ KER അമന്റ് ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടില്ല. ചെയ്തത് Kerala English Language Teacher's Association കോടതിയിൽ പോയ ശേഷം 2014-ൽ മാത്രം (കാരണം ഇന്നും നിഗൂഡം  ! )
      2002 ൽ G. O.(M.S.) 11/2002 dated 07.01.2002 (ഈ ഉത്തരവ് ഡൌണ്‍ലോഡ് ചെയ്യുവാൻ ഇവിടെ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക) പ്രകാരം HSA English തസ്തിക സൃഷ്ടിച്ച സർക്കാർ Maths, Social Science വിഷയങ്ങളുടെ രണ്ടാം പോസ്റ്റ് എടുത്ത് ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് പോസ്റ്റ്‌ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചതുകൊണ്ട് Core Subject അധ്യാപകർക്ക് വളരെയധികം ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകൾ ഉണ്ടായി.
      ഒരു ഫുൾ റ്റൈം ഭാഷാ അദ്ധ്യാപകൻ 15  periods എടുക്കുമ്പോൾ ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് അദ്ധ്യാപകൻ 35-40 periods എടുക്കേണ്ടി വരുന്നു. ഭാഷാ അദ്ധ്യാപകർക്ക് 30 പീരീഡിന് സെക്കന്റ്‌ പോസ്റ്റ്‌ സൃഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെടും. എന്നാൽ ഇംഗ്ലിഷിനു 45 പീരീഡ്‌ ആകുമ്പോൾ മാത്രമേ സെക്കന്റ്‌ പോസ്റ്റ് വരികയുള്ളൂ. 5 ഡിവിഷനുകൾ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ മാത്രമേ HSA English തസ്തിക സൃഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെടുകയുള്ളൂ എന്ന് ഈ ഉത്തരവിൽ പറയുന്നതിനാൽ ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് അധ്യാപകരുടെ സേവനം ലഭ്യമല്ലാത്ത സ്കൂളുകൾ ഇന്നും ധാരാളമാണ്. 5-മത്തെ ഡിവിഷൻ നഷ്ടപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ ജോലി പോവുകയോ സ്ഥലം മാറ്റപ്പെടുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്ന ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് അധ്യാപകരുടെ എണ്ണം വർദ്ധിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

      ഇതിനെതിരെ പ്രതികരിക്കാനായി 14 ജില്ലകളിൽ നിന്നും ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് അദ്ധ്യാപകർ ഒത്തു ചേർന്ന് കക്ഷി രാഷ്ട്രീയ സംഘടനാ ഭേദമില്ലാതെ KELTA (Kerala English Language Teacher's Association) ക്ക് രൂപം കൊടുത്തു ഹൈക്കോടതിയിൽ കേസ് നടത്തുന്നതിനിടയിൽ രേഖകൾ തിരയുമ്പോൾ ആണ്  11 വർഷം സർക്കാർ ലൈബ്രറിയിൽ  ഉറങ്ങിക്കിടന്ന ഈ ഗസറ്റ് നോട്ടിഫിക്കേഷൻ കണ്ടെത്തിയത്.

      06.06.2003 ലെ G.O. (P) 149/2003 പ്രകാരം ഇംഗ്ലിഷിനെ language ഗ്രൂപ്പിൽ പെടുത്തണമെന്നും KER അമന്റ് ചെയ്യണം എന്നും ഉള്ള നമ്മുടെ നിവേദനങ്ങൾ പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെടാതെ വന്നപ്പോൾ നാം ഹൈക്കോടതിയിൽ WP (C) 18586/12 എന്ന Writ ഫയൽ ചെയ്തു. കോടതിയുടെ നിർദ്ദേശപ്രകാരം 2014-ൽ KER അമന്റ് ചെയ്ത് ഇംഗ്ലിഷിനെ language ഗ്രൂപ്പിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തി. ഈ ഉത്തരവ് പറയുന്നത് The post of HSA English shall be sanctioned on the basis of periods allocated to English. This rule shall be implemented on a phased manner without causing retrenchment of HSA core subjects as on 07.01.2002 എന്നാണ്. അതായത് 07.01.2002 ലെ ഓഡർ അസാധുവാണ്. അസാധുവായ ഈ നിയമപ്രകാരം ഇപ്പോഴും അദ്ധ്യാപക തസ്തിക നിർണ്ണയം നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. 06.06.2003 -ലെ ഓഡർ നടപ്പാക്കി കിട്ടുന്നതിന് നാം വീണ്ടും ഹൈക്കോടതിയെ സമീപിക്കേണ്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു. അദ്ധ്യാപക ബാങ്കും ജോലി സ്ഥിരതയും ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും പലരും അടിസ്ഥാന ശമ്പളം മാത്രം വാങ്ങി പല ജില്ലകളിലായി കറങ്ങി നടക്കേണ്ടി വരുന്നത് നാം കാണുന്നുണ്ട്. നമ്മുടെ സുരക്ഷ ഉറപ്പാക്കേണ്ടതും, ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് അദ്ധ്യാപനം മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്തേണ്ടതും English Club, English Fest, English Blog എന്നിവ കാര്യക്ഷമമാക്കേണ്ടതും പൊതു വിദ്യാഭ്യാസമേഖലയെ സംരക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതും നമ്മുടെ ബാധ്യതയാണ്.

reCAPTCHA - എന്താണെന്നറിയാമോ ?

reCAPTCHA is a free CAPTCHA service that helps to digitize books, newspapers and old time radio shows. Check out our paper in Science about it (or read more below).


A CAPTCHA is a program that can tell whether its user is a human or a computer. You've probably seen them — colorful images with distorted text at the bottom of Web registration forms. CAPTCHAs are used by many websites to prevent abuse from "bots," or automated programs usually written to generate spam. No computer program can read distorted text as well as humans can, so bots cannot navigate sites protected by CAPTCHAs.

About 200 million CAPTCHAs are solved by humans around the world every day. In each case, roughly ten seconds of human time are being spent. Individually, that's not a lot of time, but in aggregate these little puzzles consume more than 150,000 hours of work each day. What if we could make positive use of this human effort? reCAPTCHA does exactly that by channeling the effort spent solving CAPTCHAs online into "reading" books.

To archive human knowledge and to make information more accessible to the world, multiple projects are currently digitizing physical books that were written before the computer age. The book pages are being photographically scanned, and then transformed into text using "Optical Character Recognition" (OCR). The transformation into text is useful because scanning a book produces images, which are difficult to store on small devices, expensive to download, and cannot be searched. The problem is that OCR is not perfect.
Example of OCR errors
reCAPTCHA improves the process of digitizing books by sending words that cannot be read by computers to the Web in the form of CAPTCHAs for humans to decipher. More specifically, each word that cannot be read correctly by OCR is placed on an image and used as a CAPTCHA. This is possible because most OCR programs alert you when a word cannot be read correctly.

But if a computer can't read such a CAPTCHA, how does the system know the correct answer to the puzzle? Here's how: Each new word that cannot be read correctly by OCR is given to a user in conjunction with another word for which the answer is already known. The user is then asked to read both words. If they solve the one for which the answer is known, the system assumes their answer is correct for the new one. The system then gives the new image to a number of other people to determine, with higher confidence, whether the original answer was correct.

Currently, we are helping to digitize old editions of the New York Times and books from Google Books.

In order to achieve our goal of digitizing books, we need your help.

If you run a website that suffers from problems with spam, you can put reCAPTCHA on your site. For some applications (such as Mediawiki), we have plugins that allow you to use reCAPTCHA without writing any code. We also have easy-to-use code for common web programming languages such as PHP.

If you get email spam we have a method that will help you to reduce it. Many spammers crawl the web looking for email addresses. When they see an email address on a web page, they send spam to the address. Mailhide allows you to safely post your email address on the web. Mailhide takes an address such as jsmith@example.com and turns it into jsm...@example.com. In order to reveal the address, a user must click on the "..." and solve a reCAPTCHA. If you use the Mailhide version of your email address, spammers won't be able to find your real email address and you'll get less spam.

 അധ്യാപകനെ ആരോടെങ്കിലും ഉപമിക്കാനാകുമെങ്കില്‍ അതൊരു ശില്പിയോടു മാത്രമായിരിക്കും. തന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ കിട്ടുന്ന മണ്ണ് കുഴച്ച് ഒരു ശില്പമുണ്ടാക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അത് ജീവസ്സുറ്റതായി മാറണമെങ്കില്‍ ഏറ്റവും ശ്രദ്ധ വേണ്ടത് ശില്പിക്കു തന്നെയാണ്. മണ്ണിന്റെ ഗുണവും പശിമയുമെല്ലാം വളരെ വളരെ ചെറിയ ഘടകങ്ങള്‍ മാത്രം. അതു പോലെതന്നെയാണ് സമൂഹത്തിന് ഉപകരിക്കുന്ന വിധത്തിലേക്ക് തന്റെ മുന്നിലിരിക്കുന്ന വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികളെ രൂപപ്പെടുത്തിയെടുക്കുന്നതില്‍ അധ്യാപകനുള്ള പങ്കും. നമ്മുടേത് കേവലം ശമ്പളം കിട്ടാനുള്ള ഒരു ജോലി മാത്രമല്ല, നിശ്ചിത ജോലി സമയവുമില്ല. വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികള്‍ക്ക് മാതൃകയായ ഒരു ജീവിതം കാഴ്ച വെയ്ക്കാന്‍ നമുക്ക് കഴിയണം. അത്ര മാത്രം ജാഗരൂകണം ഓരോ വാക്കുകളിലും നമ്മള്‍ ..

To make reading and writing easy for beginners


To make reading and writing easy for beginners

→ Start with 3 letter words - rhyming words are more preferred.
Eg. cat, rat, pat , pot, cot, lot etc.

→ Give an idea about vowels and how they help in changing sounds like “a” is used as “aa” in Malayalam, “e” is used for “ottappulli”, and so on for all vowels.

→ Give several examples, display them in charts. Highlight the vowels with different colours.
Part, mark, fan,
Set, bed, pen
Charts like this should be prepared for all vowels.

→ After giving lot of reading and writing practices, ask them to find such words in their text books or news papers or comics, and let them note it down.

→ Write small stories and sentences for these children and give reading practices.

To make them speak
→ Teacher should talk very simple sentence frequently, not only in English periods, but in other periods too, when the situation is suitable.

Eg: How are you? Shall we start, let’s sing, I am tired, who is absent etc.

→ Talk about favourite things.

Eg: I like paayasam. It is very sweet.
My mother gave me a blue dress. It has pink buttons.
Ravi likes bike. He rides very fast.
I went to the beach. I played in the water.

→ After giving such examples, ask them to speak about their favourite things. Teacher should boost their confidence by giving scaffolding and encouragements like claps. They may not speak initially, then ask them to write down their ideas and read.

To make them write
→ Start with small sentences. Here too teacher’s version is used first.

Show them some object and describe it.
Eg: This is a small flower. This is red in colour. It has five petals.

Ask a student to stand and describe him/her.
This is Sonu. He is a tall boy. He is wearing black sandals.

This kind of practices will show some result within 2 months. Teacher should be very patient. Can’t expect a leap in a short time.

English Learning Materials for Beginners - Fourth Updation (Today)

      I am a Primary School Teacher from Palakkad. Even our 10th standard students find it difficult to frame a meaningful sentence, neither are they confident to express their ideas in English.
    I wish our primary teachers try to make students familiar with simple sentence formation. This will boost their confidence in writing about simple topics like tree, food, pond etc. I hope this attempt will strengthen the foundation and the student will be able to communicate well in English by the time he finishes 10th.
     I am a part of English Blog by contributing learning materials for primary classes. Instead of focusing more on textbooks, I wish to encourage children in writing about familiar topics in their own simple sentences. These are some samples. Please go through them and feel free to express your opinion. I wish more teachers from LP school join English Blog and share.
